Laboratory for Cognitive Studies
The Laboratory for Cognitive Studies was founded in 2005 at the Faculty of Philology, St.Petersburg State University. It was aimed at interdisciplinary research in the field of cognition, reasoning, perception, knowledge representation and acquisition, language as means of cognition and communication, brain mechanisms underlying the mind and complex behaviour, as well as projects related to the "Cognitive Studies" profile within the scope of "Arts and Humanities" programme at the Smolny Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences where it has been based since 2011.
The main axes of our research are mental grammar and lexicon, reading and visual recognition, communication specifics, translation and interpreting and more. In our studies we use Eyelink 1000 Plus Eye Tracker and NVX52 Encephalograph.
International collaboration is welcome and many outstanding researchers come to visit us and give lectures at the monthly St.Petersburg Seminar for Cognitive Studies.
