I think back upon my days studying at Smolny College with great fondness! There are not only one or two reasons for this, but rather several. I’ll start from afar: I studied at Smolny so long ago that when we talked about the Bobrinskiy Palace we said: “Oh yeah, Bobrinskiy palace! The say it’s somewhere not far from here, just across the Leitenanta Schmidta bridge!..” When I would ride from the Park Pobedy Metro to Vasilievsky Ostrov and exit from the station, I always walked to the college along the Sixth and Seventh Line. Of course, there were other routes, but for an academic institution as unique as Smolny one should walk along a special path. There’s one of Smolny College’s charms: its location in the center of a wonderful city.
People are Smolny’s special and and fundamental pride. One could go on endlessly about the school’s professors not because there are a lot at Smolny but because each is worth their weight in gold. They’ll entrust you with not just their knowledge, but their soul too. They are amazing people. Even telling somebody that I used to stand near them gives me an air of reflected glory.

I’d like to thank Smolny separately for all the friends that came into my life during my studies, people with whom I still share warm relationships today. Smolny is a kind of “place of place” where you meet the sort of people who are able to play an important role in your life.
