Michael Freese is the Director of Bard Programs in St. Petersburg where he oversees American students on the Bard-Smolny Study Abroad Program and also works with Russian students pursuing a semester at Bard College. He earned his B. A. from Wheaton College (Massachusetts) in 2008 and was the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Scholarship at Kalmyk State University. He holds an international master's degree in Russian and Eurasian Studies from the European University at St. Petersburg (2011) and an M. A. in Intercultural Education from the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences of St Petersburg University (2015).
