Arts Management: Theoretical and Practical Tools for Curators
'Arts Management: Theoretical and Practical Tools for Curators' acquaints students with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct exhibitions and visual arts events in a wide range of institutional and non-traditional settings around the world. The course provides an introduction and overview of how non-profit entities in the visual arts are organized—from mission and programming, board and staff structure, to marketing, fundraising, and strategic planning. The course analyzes the cultural environment in which art and art organizations operate and the structure and management of organizations that present artwork in non-profit, public and commercial venues. Students study the particular intersections between for-profit and non-profit areas in the visual arts as well as the strategies and techniques need-ed to manage visual arts organizations effectively.
