British Political Economy
6 credits
2nd year of study
Spring semester
This course will enable students to discover the beginning and the importance of the use of mathematics and probability methods in economics. Students will explore the British political economy in the late 17th century. Students will learn about the scientist, who was one of the first to use statistical scientific methods to solve economic issues: the English herald and the statistics of the 17th century Gregory King. His views were greatly influenced by the works of Francis Bacon and Sir William Petty. Gregory King and the results of his work are worthy of attention, because they allow us to better understand the origins of the emergence of all modern economic science and scientific methods used by modern economists.
